Among many mountain ranges in Viet Nam, Hoang Lien Son Mountain seems to be more widely known. This is a famous scenic spot in Sapa not only famous for its “Roof of the Indochina” Fanxipan Mountain but also beautiful vista, diverse ecosystem, and rare flora and fauna.
Hoang Lien Son mountain is located in the Northwest Vietnam. The range is named after celandine – which can be found everywhere in the mountain. With the width of 30 kilometers and the length of 180 kilometers, Hoang Lien Son runs in the direction of Northwest – Southeast between Lao Cai Province and Lai Chau Province and extends to the west of Yen Bai Province.
There are many high mountains in Hoang Lien Range, however, the highest one is Fanxipan Mountain, with the height of 3,143 meters. Fanxipan Mountain is often dubbed as the “Roof of the Indochina” because this is the highest peak in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. The ecosystem in Hoang Lien is quite diverse with the concentration of many precious plants and animals. Especially, Hoang Lien National Park is an important natural reserve in this area. The National Park is located at an altitude of 1,000 – 3,000 meters with the total area of 29.845 hectares.
Coming to Sapa, you have the opportunity to visit Hoang Lien National Park with abundant fauna and flora are preserved. From Sa Pa town, tourists tour Sapa through a steep slope about 20km, visitors will come to O Quy Ho Pass – Hoang Lien Pass, which belongs to the National Park.
