Vietnam Women Museum is located in Hanoi, on Ly Thuong Kiet Street, near the center of Hoan Kiem Lake and the Old Quarters. This museum is dedicated to Vietnamese women.
The women museum has been open to the general public since 1995 and has been revising its regular display systems from 2006 to 2010 to honor Vietnamese women.
In addition to the regular display system, the Women Museum also organizes a number of thematic exhibitions with a new approach to social anthropology, reflecting the development and change of contemporary society by means of targeted projects. to different groups of people, especially disadvantaged women and children.
The museum’s regular exhibits were renovated from 2006 to 2010 on the second, third and fourth floors of the museum building, introducing three themes for Vietnamese women with over 1,000 documents, artifacts and photographs.
The first show The women on the second floor tell about the life cycle of Vietnamese women through rituals and customs in marriage, children and family life. The exhibition not only focused on introducing the role and participation of Vietnamese generations in the resistance wars against foreign aggression of the nation but also the multifarious aspects of everyday life of women in warfare. Life stories, contributions, victories, and even their sacrifices for national independence and unification are deeply depicted in the exhibits. The image of the contemporary woman in the construction of the country with virtues, passion, energy and passion is also expressed through short films.
The Women in History section on the 3rd floor presents historical and contemporary events as well as reminiscences of Vietnamese women’s war memories.
The last show of Women’s Fashion on the 4th floor introduces the products of regional cultural characteristics of women of Vietnamese ethnicity through their creativity and talents. The exhibition presents diverse information on fashion and the art of creating patterns on unique costumes with the techniques of 54 ethnic groups: Embroidery of the Hmong and Thai, batik technique used by the H’Mong people. Beauty of women of all nationalities through the use of jewelry, makeup. The tradition of dyeing the teeth and eating betel nuts is also clearly illustrated by collections of brooches, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, plates, contributing to the beauty of Vietnamese women.
