Located on Hoa Lo Street, one of the shortest streets in Hanoi, the relic of Hoa Lo Prison is the place where Vietnamese patriotic soldiers and revolutionaries are imprisoned. In the village of Phụ Khánh, Vinh Xuong, Tho Xuong district of Hanoi, the French colonial built Hoa Lo prison as one of the largest French colonial prisons in Indochina.
The French name of Hoa Lo prision prison was the Maison Centrale, Hoa Lo prision is the Central Wrath of North and South Vietnam and was the place confined many types of people, the people are inversed the primary entity from the 1896 to 1954. 2,434m2 is currently protecting the area planning.
From a handicraft village to a famous pottery, the French colonialists turned the land of Hoa Lo into a place to detain and exterminate the body and spirit of thousands of patriotic soldiers, the Vietnamese revolution. Living in the imperial prison, with harsh environment but the patriotic soldiers still kept the air of revolution, turning the prison into a school and a place for revolutionary.
Today, with many precious materials intact and displayed science, Hoa Lo Prison has become an attractive tourist attraction, attracting both many domestic and foreign tourists.
Being one of the strongest structures in Indochina, Hoa Lo Prison was designed around a stone wall, reinforced by 4m high, and 0.5m thick, reinforced with barbed wire. The four corners are the most observable watch towers of all prison camps. The iron door system, locks, hinges, hooks are made of top metal quality.
As a brutal detention center, Hoa Lo Prison is like a “hell” in the heart of Hanoi. Here a harsh prison regime is applied to the forms of captivity and the fullness of human beings.
