Possessing many tourist routes with striking natural landscapes like majestic caves, tranquil rivers, and impressive waterfalls, Ba Be National Park is an ideal destination in Northeast Vietnam for various types of tourism such as eco-tourism, adventure tourism, and traditional tourism.
Ba Be National Park is at longitude 105°36′55″ east and at latitude 22°24′19″ north. The National Park belongs to the territory of five communes in Ba Be District, Bac Kan Province, which are Nam Mau, Khanh Ninh, Cao Thuong, Quang Khe, and Cao Tri. The distance from Ba Be to Bac Kan City and Hanoi Capital to the north is 50 kilometers and 250 kilometers respectively. Ba Be was established on November 10th, 1992 with the total area of 7,610 hectares including 300 hectares of lake surface and 3,226 hectares of the strictly protected zone. In 2004, the National Park was recognized as a Natural Heritage of ASEAN.

Many scientific surveys claim that Ba Be National Park is rich in biodiversity and owns typically ecological features of lowland evergreen forests, lakes on mountains, and evergreen forests on limestone mountains. It is estimated that Ba Be National Park is home of 1,281 plant species, in which, 25 species are listed in Red Book of International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Besides, many rare plants are listed of Vietnam Red Book as well. Not only having a diverse flora, Ba Be National Park also owns a rich fauna in terms of both quality and variety. Scientists found here 81 mammals, 27 reptiles, 17 amphibians, 322 species of birds, 106 fish species, and 553 species of insects and mites. Up to now, there are 66 rare and endemic species listed in Red Book of both Vietnam and the world.
Located in the center of the National Park, Ba Be Lake is a natural lake on a mountain with the length of 8 kilometers and the width of 800 meters. Lying in limestone mountain area, which has may karst caves, Ba Be Lake is a magical gift endowed by the nature. The lake is surrounded by limestone mountain ranges with many caves and underground streams. Coming here, tourists will have a great opportunity to go sightseeing around the lake by dugout canoes. Besides, motor boats can take you to Nang River to admire many natural sights. In addition to Ba Be Lake, Ba Be National Park also possesses other unique and majestic attractions such as Phuong Cave, Dau Dang Waterfall, Tien Pond, and Room Waterfall. The high biodiversity and the natural scenic spots make the Ba Be National Park become a beautiful place for eco-tourism.
