Anyone who has come to Myanmar cannot deny the charm of this land. One of the destinations you must definitely visit is Kandawgyi Lake of Myanmar. Kandawgyi lake is one of two artificial lakes in Yangon, taking water from Inya Lake, which was created to provide clean water for the city. It is the ideal place for you to look for peace and tranquility and avoid all the noise.
Kandawgyi Lake is also known as Royal Lake, which was built by the British.
Kandawgyi lake is located to the west of Shwedagon Pagoda. It is a popular place for local people. The lake is about 60ha surrounded by nearly 75 ha green park, the botanical garden with many flowers … has become the familiar picnic spots of the ancient capital. Furthermore, Kandawgyi lake is also prominent with wooded roads and many outdoor cafes. You can walk by the lake or go to the magnificent Karaweik Restaurant in the middle of the lake to enjoy dinner. The Karaweik Hall Floating Restaurant will be a great place to get out of the heat of the city, before stepping out onto the poetic lakeside road. There are always plenty of rickshaws and taxis waiting at each exit, so you can easily get to the next destination.
Just to the east of Palace Kandawgyi Hotel, on the south side of the lake, floats a Shin Upagot temple. The Upagot is a Bodhisattva (Buddha) protected to protect humans in dangerous moments. On the east side of the lake, there are several places to visit: the children’s playground and the Karaweik Palace, a small park, a replica of reinforced concrete of a royal barge. In the north of the lake, the Utopia Tower is an artificial pile of bars, karaoke, massage parlors, and on the fifth floor is the view deck.
The view of Kandawgyi lake is beautiful at any time of the day. However, the scenery that most visitors love is the sunset when the sky changes many striking colors.
