Dau Go cave is situated on Dau Go island, about 300 m from Thien Cung Grotto. This is a focus of the ancient architectural complexes, containing wild and peaceful beauty with many stone pillars and small stalagmites. Visiting Dau Go cave, visitors will feel impressed by the magnificent rocks bearing the majestic relief. According to legend, Dau Go cave is the place where Tran Hung Dao hid the limestone piles to prepare for the battle against the Mongols at Bach Dang River in 1288. In 2010, competent authorities restored the steles at Dau Go Cave, returning the natural beauty for this relic.
Looking back, the cave is like a blue jellyfish. Dau Go cave is divided into three main divisions: the exterior has arched architecture, with plenty of natural light. Crossing a narrow slope, visitors will arrive at the second compartment with many mysterious paintings. And the third one, also the last one, is much wider. The end of the cave is a well. Inside the cave are the stones that are shaped according to the imagination like a battle such as swords, fighters, spears, ….
The difference of the Dau Go cave compared to many other caves in Ha Long is that the humidity in the cave is relatively high, due to the wide porch cave, which has created favorable conditions to develop many kinds of plants such as ferns, mosses and timbers, … Furthermore, the temperature in the cave is quite ideal, warm in winter and cool, pleasant in summer.
Visitors want to take the discovery journey will have to go through a relatively rugged and rough way. However, in order to help visitors move more conveniently, and still not lose the natural beauty of this cave, they have constructed a wooden corridor about 500m long in the cave.
