Chaukhtatgyi Buddha Temple was constructed in 1966 and was renovated in 1907. This temple is well known for its 65-meter-long lying Buddha statue. The Buddha is decorated with expressive colors, white faces, red lips, blue eyes, yellow shirts and red fingernails. Right arm of the Buddha is behind the head with comfortable posture and calm mind. The soles of the feet are composed of 108 segments alternating yellow and red, showing the representation of 108 lakshanas or the virtues of the Buddha.

The Chaukhtatgyi Buddha Temple was first built in 1907. After a long time, the Chauk Htat Gyi image was damaged, therefore, people decided to renovate this temple. Finally, the Chauk Htat Gyi Buddha Temple was restored in 1966 by the donations of foreign tourists and Buddhists.
Buddha head is turning east and his face turning south. Around the main temple, there are many small temples are home to the Buddhist teachings of more than 600 monks.
