From Myanmar to Laos, there is no direct route for you to choose. Therefore, if you want to travel to Laos from Myanmar, you have to go through Thailand. The following article will help you to choose the easier route.
Firstly, you have to fly to Tachileik airport in Myanmar. In addition, there are other options from other cities in Yangon. Furthermore, you can book e-ticket online on their official website. When you get there, you may review the regulations.
After that, you should get on a tuk tuk to the Myanmar – Thailand border (Tachileik-Mae Sai). When arriving the border, you have to fill out the form to stamp your passport out of Myanmar. The border will close at about 08:00 pm and this procedure will not take you too much time. Then, you will walk over the bridge to get to the other Thai border. Next, you may begin to find a tuk tuk to get on to come to the bus station.
When you can get to the bus station, you should catch a bus to Chiang Rai. From Chiang Rai, you have to come to the Laos border (Chiang Khong). The travel time will last about 2 to 3 hours.
After arriving Chiang Khong, you may get a tuk tuk to the Thailand-Laos border. Then, you go back through the Thai customs to cross the border.
At the time getting on the Lao border, you have to fill out the form and need a passport photo (if you do not have, they will provide for you and you will have to pay an extra fee).
From the Lao border, you will continue to get on a tuk tuk to the Huay Xai center. Finally, you can take a boat trip to Luang Prabang. From Luang Prabang, you can begin your Laos adventure.
