Hue airport or Phu Bai International Airport has an important role in strategic economic, social and cultural development of Thua Thien Hue and northern Central Vietnam. It is act as a bridge between the domestic and international.
Hue Airport is located on National Highway 1A, within the administrative boundaries of Huong Thuy Town, Thua Thien Hue Province, about 15 km (about 20 minutes by car) to the southeast of Hue city center.
Phu Bai Airport has 01 east-west runway with the symbol of 09/27, length of 2,700 m, width of 40 m. Passenger terminal Phu Bai Airport has 02 floors with a total area of about 5400 m2 with capaciy of 600 passengers per hour peak, equipped with all equipment for cargo operations.

Domestic airlines: Currently, three airlines Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air and Jestar Pacific are operating flights Hanoi – Hue – Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City – Hue – Ho Chi Minh City by A320, A321 aircraft with 24 flights per day.
International airlines: In addition, there are some international airlines such as Lao Airlines, Bangkok Airways ,Vietnam Airlines and Lao Airlines , Bangkok Airways.
Currently, there are more than 24 take-off and landing flights per day at this airport.

Hue airport (also called Phu Bai airport) is about 15km from Hue city. From Hue airport to the city center and vice versa, you can catch a taxi, use bus service or rent a private car.

• Taxi: It is quite convenient to take a taxi outside the airport to go to the center. There are popular and trustworthy brand names such as Mai Linh, Thanh Do, Phu Xuan, and Dong Ba. The price depends on different brand names; however, it is often about 150,000 – 200,000 VND and takes 15 – 20 minutes in one way.
• Public bus/airport bus: Using public bus will save you a substantial expense to transport from Hue airport to the center. There is only one route between Hue city and Phu Bai airport which is the route no.2. It is about 2 hours between two trips and it costs 4,000 – 6,000 one way. This way is suitable for passengers with small backpack. Because you may have to wait 2 hours for a bus trip, so it is better to take a taxi when you have no time.
Besides public bus, you can use airport bus with the ticket price of 50,000 VND one way. The airport bus will pick you at Hue airport and drop you off at the office at No.20 Ha Noi Street.
• Private cars: If you travel in a large group and don’t care much about price, renting a private car is a great choice. Tourist companies provide this service with various prices. It is often 250,000 VND ($12) for a 4 seat car, 280 – 300,000 VND ($15) for a 7 seat car in one way. The price will be cheaper with two-ways car rental.
