Buddha Park or The Statue of Buddha (also known as Wat Xieng Khuan) is a famous sculpture garden with more than 200 Buddha statues and Hindu statues, cast by cement with many different shapes and meanings. Therefore, if you have the opportunity to visit the peaceful and beautiful Laos, you should not overlook the garden statue of Buddha Wat Xieng Khuan – this is a famous tourist destination not only for Buddhists.

The Buddha Park was donated to build by a famous monk – Bunleua Sulilat, a monk who studied both Buddhism and Hinduism in 1958. In the center of the Buddha Park, there is a huge statue of Buddha lying about 40 meters in length, with the relaxed shape as the Buddha nirvana. The face of the Buddha is elegant, tolerant with wide forehead, eyes closed, lips smiled.
Other prominent statues in the Buddha’s Park include: Statue of Indra, one of the supreme gods of Hinduism, riding on a back of a three-headed elephant, a four-hand god sitting on a horse and one god with 12 faces and many hands, each hand holds interesting objects. All are impressive by the huge size, and the details are equally amazing.
There are many statues with various statues diversified in shape, representing the legend engraved on the panels attached in the Lao language: lively and mysterious statues such as elephants with 3 heads, turtles, crocodiles, snakes … stylized according to legend; monks, beggars, dancers ……
The ideal place to visit is the giant pumpkin architecture, a large structure of the Xieng Khuan Buddha Statue, known as the Cave of the Abbadon. Travelers can visit this place. The entrance is about three meters high, shaped like a demon’s mouth with a stone staircase inside, leading to the top where you can see the entire Xieng Khuan Buddha statue.
There is a local eatery and cafeteria offering food and drink for tourists, located at one end of the Buddha statue park, right next to the Mekong River – a great place to relax after walking and climbing. Among the snacks, the popular is papaya salad, fried banana and cold Lao beer. There is also a souvenir shop and a rest room.
