Binh Lam tower located adjacent to the Go Thap River to Thi Nai beach of Long Mai village, Binh Lam, Phuoc Hoa commune, Tuy Phuoc district, the tower is one of the most signature historical relic that maintain a variety of Cham architectures from the very first Cham dynasty in Vietnam. Located in Binh Lam citadel, the first temporary capital when Cham kings moved from Quang Nam to Binh Dinh, Binh Lam tower is considered as the political and administrative center of Champa for its signature and valuable Cham architecture that was maintained until now.
Binh Lam tower is about 20m in height, consisting of two floors. As other Cham towers, one of the most distinctive and beautiful architectural elements of Binh Lam is the door protruding between the walls of the tower. Each door is a triple-successive structure that gradually growed from the inside out. Each body has two parts: the two pillars below and the spear shaped box above. The bottom of the doors are decorated with lions, flowers and figures.
The upper part of the carved doors is very sophisticated. Especially, the exterior wall of Binh Lam tower is decorated with a system of pillars. Otherwise, Binh Lam tower highlights itself with many sophisticated and elegant sculptures in the walls. For that reason, the tower will be the ideal destination for tourists to discover about the ancient Vietnamese culture and its meaning to the life of Vietnamese current life.
