Hoi An has been known to be the best destination to serve up Chicken Rice. Rice of this dish is different from the other, it is in yellow instead of white as normal because it is cook with chicken broth. Boiled chicken is torn into small pieces and mixed with sliced onions and veggies. A bowl of tasty dipping sauce, a bowl of clear soup, chili jam are also served along.

3. Banh Bao Banh Vac – White Rose Dumlings
Banh Bao Banh Vac is called White Rose Dumplings due to its shape like a little rose. It is made from flattened rice flour cover with the filling of different ingredients like shrimp, pork, mushrooms. People then bunch it into the shape of a little rose and boil with a suitable period of time. One thing to notice when cooking this dish is that you should soak rice flour with water more than 10 times so that the cover will be sticky and firm.
Nha Hang Bong Hong Trang – White Rose Restaurant is most recommended as a place for enjoying this amazing dish within Hoi An. It is said to be the only one restaurant can make white rose in Hoi An.

4. My Quang – Vietnamese Turmeric Noodles
This is definitely a specialty you shouldn’t miss when coming to Hoi An. My Quang is truly a superstar with both appearance and taste. The rice noodles of this dish are in beautiful yellow color. Beside flat rice noodles – the main ingredient, a bowl of My Quang includes pork, shrimp, veggies and crackers.

5. Hoanh Thanh – Fried Wonton
Hoanh Thanh is originally from China but people changed something to make it suit the local taste. Wonton is a famous Chinese food which is made from rice flour and a filling comprised of different ingredients such as diced pork, shrimp, egg, spices. Hoanh Thanh will be deep fried until golden. People can prepare several kinds of dishes from wonton like fried wonton or wonton soup. And fried wonton is a specialty of Hoi An.

6. Hen Xao – Fried Mussels
Fried Mussels is a local specialty of one famous rural part of Hoi An – Cam Nam commune. To get meat of mussels, people first boil mussels to facilitate the process. Mussels are then fried with onions, pepper, sugar, fish sauce with a suitable ratio. People also put fried peanuts, chilies and rice crackers on the top to make the dish more attractive.
Ba Gia restaurant is the best place to eat fried mussels. This is also the first restaurant in Cam Nam, they started their business more than 30 years ago.

7. Thit Nuong Banh Uot – Grilled Pork with rice paper
You can smell the great taste of grilled pork from a long distance on the street. The street BBQ is also a not-to-be-missed experience for you in Hoi An. And the grilled pork will be tasted much better when we wrap in into a rice paper and eat with some suitable veggies after dipping in fish sauce.
You can try this dish on Tran Hung Dao Street which is called the Street Vendors with a lot of vendors gathering here, especially at the corner between Tran Hung Dao Street and Hai Ba Trung Street.

9. Banh Khot
The name of this dish also comes from the cooking sound. To cook Banh Khot, we firstly need coconut cream, turmeric, salt, spring onion with rice flour. Then you need to fry the cake mould with vegetable oil and fill each hole of pan with flour and add a quail egg to each cake after that. Stop cooking when the cake turns to yellow color and crispy texture. People serve Banh Khot with some veggies and fish sauce.

10. Xi Ma Phu – Black Sesame Sweet Soup
Xi Ma Phu is a Chinese food from Fujian province. It was brought to Hoi An by Chinese traders a long time ago. At the first look you may not want to try it due to its unappetizing look but it is amazingly tasty. This sweet soup is cooked from black sesame, coconut, rice flour, and sugar.
