Ah Oh Show, which is phonetically understood as the Ahh! Ohh! Show, is one spectacle and the newest creation of Lune Production. This is a show telling the stories of Vietnamese culture about both rural and urban life. The show has been performed since Feb 2013 and become a famous extraordinary one-hour show introducing Vietnamese culture in a unique way by the young talented.
The director is Tuan Le, who spent most of his life abroad then came back to Vietnam. The reason is that he wants to work with Vietnamese young people and bring the beautiful culture of Vietnam out to the world.

A high energy performance combining of different talented skills and instruments

To experts, Ah Oh Show has changed the common concept of a drama-cirque, it’s where the cirque meets dance. Bamboo cirque, contemporary dance, acrobatics and live music, etc. are mixed smoothly to bring audiences a journey of love and beauty through a theater-going experience.
The materials used in performances are bamboo poles, coconut leaf round boats, baskets, ropes, etc. which are all core features of Vietnamese daily lives.
The choreography is amazingly perfect which can make everyone overwhelmed. It is beyond expectations even they are not low.
There are only a few native words in the whole show. The live music during the show is combined from 17 kinds of traditional instruments which echo the Southern work songs. The atmosphere and effects made by the sound of those traditional instruments is amazing, even hip-hop dance is smooth on it.
The scenic lighting design is also an important part which makes the show successful.
And the show is performed by young Vietnamese artists who are always dress in the traditional costumes of Southern Vietnamese people. Some of them were trained before at school and some of them were not. The director as well as his team gathers them then they work together for months before coming to the stage. They are all pretty young, full of energy, have a smile in their face almost the time but all different from each other in some ways, which are combined together and become different ingredients for the unique show. However; the young people don’t change the traditional culture of Vietnam, they depict it brilliantly in a most original way.

Ah Oh show – the depiction of Vietnamese culture in both sides

Ah Oh Show is like a contrasting portrait of Vietnamese culture. There are two different lives depicted by Ah Oh Show about Vietnam, beginning with the beauty of the peaceful country life and then right back with the noise and irony of the urbanization in the second half of the show. The two different pictures are mixed and cross each other smoothly during the show.

A one-hour with varied emotion of the audiences

Ah Oh Show delicate on-hour experience of different emotions. Cheeky smiles appear on audiences’ faces because of amusing creatures’ body language while moving scenes with simply movements will take some tears from them. The dangerous poses of the performers also make the audiences heart-throbbing sometimes.

Ah Oh show launched in Saigon Opera House

Saigon Opera House, where Ah Oh Show is launched, is a 119-year-old opera house. It was built by French in 1898, at the height of French colonial period in Vietnam. Therefore; this became a national Relic Saigon’s culture and architectural icon.
Although Ah Oh Show is performed in such a theater designed for classical Western music, when the show begins, the place turns into a place of daily life of Vietnam with total Vietnamese atmosphere.

How to experience Ah Oh Show

According to audiences who have experienced the show, it is a not-to-be-missed experience when coming to HCMC. They stories are easy to understand but were told in a surprisingly exciting experience. Even non-theater-goer will love it. And below are some informations you may want to know to get to Ah Oh Show.
In 2018, the show will be launched every month, except January, June and July. There will be around 10 shows each month.
