Huean Chan House is a traditional house of Laos, which situated in the UNESCO World Heritage town. This is the first house administered by La Maison du Patrimoine. Presently, Huean Chan House has becoming an educational and recreational place for tourists to visit. Its name “Huean Chan House” because of the reason that in Lao language, heuan means “house”, and the name of its owner was Mrs. Chan. To commemorate the house owner, its original name has been maintained until today.

Huean Chan House was classified as the World Heritage by UNESCO in 1995. Huean Chan House owns the unique architecture for the reason that Huean Chan House was mainly built by the Lao people.
People said that it would not be easy to maintain, and retain the traditional beauty, especially in the context of rapid and strong development; they can do it successfully.
In order to do that, everyone must abide by the rules and principles for preserving and protecting the beauty of this architecture. Two buildings, which are Ban Xieng Mouane and the Customs and Taxes House, have been accessible for projects in 1996. After that, the government began reformed and modernized Huean Chan House . This was the first renovation of Huean Chan House. The second renovation was conducted in 2006 to supply some supplementary architecture and open an information and exhibition center.
After that, in 2017, Thansamay Family rented the house for the third renovation and gave the house to the Luang Prabang and people visiting.
