Ban Xang Khong is an ideal place for people who love handmade souvenirs, crafts and textiles. The Sa paper is considered as the special type of paper in Laos. The Sa is made of mulberry tree (with its fresh flowers, leaves and bark). The Lao people use this paper to create bags, photo frames, book covers, lanterns and postcards for travelers. Most of the local people here are living by making paper. Luang Prabang, Oudomxay and Xayaburi are the three biggest paper providers in Lao, who are supplying nearly 80% of the mulberry bark in Thai Land.
